Therapy Intensives for Internal Patterns

The Inner Reset™ Intensive

This Therapy Intensive is designed for individuals seeking to improve their internal emotional state, self-relationship, and sense of psychological stability.

While some patterns play out in relationships, many of the most persistent struggles happen internally — in how we think, feel, and relate to ourselves.

 You may notice:

  • A harsh or persistent inner critic
  • Ongoing anxiety or emotional tension
  • Feelings of emptiness, disconnection, or low self-worth
  • Difficulty accessing self-compassion
  • A sense of being “stuck” in the same emotional cycles

Even when life externally is “fine,” internally it may not feel that way.

The Inner Reset™ Therapy Intensive is a structured six-session process designed to help shift these internal patterns at a deeper level.

The Inner Reset Process

Regulate → Reprocess → Rewire

Stabilizing the nervous system → Processing emotional material → Integrating new internal responses

The Inner Reset™ Intensive follows a three-stage process focused on internal transformation.

1. Regulate

Creating internal safety and emotional stability

In the early phase, we focus on strengthening your ability to regulate your internal state.

This includes:

  • Calming the nervous system
  • Developing internal grounding and stabilization
  • Beginning to soften the intensity of anxiety and emotional overwhelm
  • Introducing clinical hypnotherapy to support focused attention and relaxation

This stage lays the foundation for deeper emotional work by increasing your capacity to stay present with your internal experience.

2. Reprocess

Working through emotional patterns and underlying experiences

Once a foundation of regulation is established, we begin working more directly with the internal patterns contributing to distress.

This may include:

  • Exploring emotional experiences linked to earlier relational or developmental patterns
  • Working with self-beliefs and internal narratives
  • Processing unresolved emotional material
  • Engaging parts of the self (e.g., inner critic, younger parts, protective patterns)

Clinical hypnotherapy is used here to support deeper access to emotional material and facilitate reflective exploration in a focused, receptive state.

3. Rewire

Strengthening new internal responses and self-relationship

The final stage focuses on integration.

This includes:

  • Building a more compassionate and stable internal dialogue
  • Strengthening access to inner resources and the “wise self”
  • Reducing reliance on old coping patterns
  • Supporting ongoing emotional regulation outside of sessions

Between sessions, you will be provided with guided hypnosis recordings to listen to daily, helping reinforce changes at a deeper level.

The goal is not just insight, but a shift in how you experience yourself internally.

What is a therapy intensive and how does it work?

A therapy intensive through Smart Therapy® is a structured series of extended sessions focused on internal emotional patterns, such as anxiety, self-criticism, and recurring emotional cycles.

The Inner Reset Therapy Intensive consists of six 80-minute sessions scheduled across approximately six to twelve weeks.

This expanded session format allows more time for deeper exploration, emotional processing, and application of advanced hypnotherapeutic technique than is available within standard 50-minute therapy sessions.

Because sessions are longer and more concentrated, the work often moves beyond surface-level awareness into deeper integration.

Approach used in the Intensive

This intensive draws from several therapeutic approaches used in my depth-oriented practice, including:

  • Attachment-based approaches
  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Parts-oriented work
  • Somatic awareness practices
  • Cognitive-behavioural strategies
  • Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapy

The work is conducted within a trauma-informed framework that prioritizes:

  • Psychological safety
  • Emotional regulation
  • Collaborative exploration

Guided hypnosis is used to support focused attention and reflective exploration, allowing access to emotional material and internal patterns that may be less accessible through cognitive approaches alone.

The aim is to support:

  • Emotional processing
  • Insight development
  • Internal regulation
  • More adaptive ways of relating to yourself

Common concerns addressed in the Inner Reset Therapy Intensive

Clients often seek this intensive when they experience:

  • Persistent anxiety or internal tension
  • Harsh self-criticism or low self-esteem
  • Difficulty accessing self-compassion
  • Emotional numbness or disconnection
  • Repetitive negative thought patterns
  • A sense of being stuck internally despite insight
  • Depression-related symptoms or lack of motivation

This intensive provides a structured space to work directly with these internal experiences.

Who this Intensive is for

This intensive may be particularly helpful if you:

  • Feel overwhelmed by your own thoughts or emotions
  • Notice a strong inner critic or self-judgment
  • Want to feel more grounded, calm, and internally stable
  • Struggle with anxiety or low mood that persists over time
  • Are open to experiential and hypnosis-based approaches
  • Are willing to engage in daily between-session practices

Because this work includes guided hypnosis and integration practices, a level of consistency between sessions supports the effectiveness of the process.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Inner Reset™ Intensive

  • To receive partial or full coverage for your intensive, please make sure that your plan covers treatment by Canadian Certified Counselors (CCC) or Registered Social Workers (RSW) with an MSW (Master of Social Work), as those are my designations. Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, services may be covered in full or in part.
  • Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services, including services that are beyond a standard 50-minute session. Questions to ask include:
    • “Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
    • “Does my plan only cover certain types of mental health professionals?”
    • “Does my plan have a limit on how much it will cover per session? Does that change depending on the length of the session?”
    • “Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year it will cover? If so, what is the limit?”
    • “Do I need written approval from a primary care physician for services to be covered?”
  • Yes. If you are seeing another therapist, an intensive with me can be a collaborative experience. If you like, I can coordinate with your current therapist both before and after the intensive, so that you can get the most out of your experience by integrating it with your ongoing treatment.
  • With the Inner Reset, A six-session intensive allows us to focus more deeply on internal emotional patterns and your relationship with yourself over a concentrated period of time.

    During the process, clients often:

    • Gain clearer insight into the internal patterns that shape their thoughts, emotions, and self-perception
    • Identify underlying dynamics such as self-criticism, core beliefs, emotional triggers, or protective patterns
    • Explore how these patterns developed and how they continue to influence current emotional experiences
    • Begin shifting their internal responses, including how they relate to difficult thoughts and feelings
    • Strengthen emotional regulation and reduce the intensity of anxiety or low mood
    • Develop a more compassionate and stable relationship with themselves
    • Build access to inner resources, including a greater sense of grounding, clarity, and the “wise self”
  • That depends.

Some people use a therapy intensive to bring focused attention to a specific issue or stuck point, and then return to their ongoing therapy with greater clarity or momentum.

Others benefit from continued support as they integrate what emerged during the intensive and apply it within their day-to-day lives. For many people, this integration phase is where deeper, lasting change takes place.

Occasionally, a person may feel satisfied with what they explored in an intensive and choose not to continue with ongoing therapy at that time.

For individuals with complex or developmental trauma, ongoing therapy is typically the most supportive foundation. In select cases, an intensive may be used thoughtfully as a supplement to longer-term work, rather than as a stand-alone or primary approach.

  • All of Smart Therapy’s services, including intensives, are currently only available via telehealth (online).
